Who We Are

For a quarter of a century, Youville Centre a not-for-profit organization has offered a wide range of services focused on healthy living – from health care and wellness education to counselling and support. Established by the Grey Nuns in 1984 as a reliable and accessible health resource, the Centre has worked tirelessly to meet the needs of the community, offering the public the tools they needed to make informed choices about their health. Youville Diabetes Centre at 33 Marion Street in St. Boniface, provides diabetes self-management education and support for the Winnipeg region. A second location at 845 Dakota Street delivers primary health care, health promotion and counselling to citizens of St. Vital. Both facilities are dedicated to working with the community and for the community.

Services at Youville Centre are offered in both official languages. Youville Centre offers an open and friendly environment and believes in offering services in a non-judgmental and welcoming manner.

Youville Centre’s staff of highly qualified health care professionals includes dietitians, community health nurses, counsellors, physicians, community developer, volunteer coordinator, and certified health educators (asthma and diabetes). All staff are committed to providing professional caring service and support for everyone who walks through the doors.

Youville Centre offers Primary Health Care (PHC) to the community it serves. PHC is the first level of contact with the health care system where services are mobilized to promote health, prevent illness, care for common illnesses, and manage ongoing health problems. ongoing health problems.

Youville Centre has Canadian Council on Health Services Accreditation 2007-10 for having met national standards of excellence in quality care and service. It was recognized by the College of Registered Nurses in Manitoba with a 2008 award for its “Interdisciplinary Health Care Team” and honoured by the Reh-fit Centre in April 2008 with a nomination for a Healthy Living Award.
