STI, Birth Control and PAP Testing Services

(STI is short for sexually transmitted infections)

We have Registered Nurses (RNs) and Nurse Authorized Prescribers (RN(AP)s), who can provide assessments over the phone and in-person for:

  • STI and Birth Control information
  • Basic STI and vaginitis testing
  • Pap testing
  • Prescriptions to treat uncomplicated STIs
  • Pregnancy testing
  • Prescriptions for birth control for those 14 to 20 years of age
  • Emergency birth control
  • Immunizations

We'll start by asking you some questions over the phone and answering any questions or concerns you may have.  This will help us work together so you get the best care.

Some health concerns require the care of a doctor or nurse practitioner.  If this is the case, we will go over your options and help you get the care you need.

Urgent Concerns:

If you have an urgent concern, please do not wait several days for an appointment.

Please go to a walk-in clinic, urgent care, or emergency department.

Basic STI Assessment - this appointment is right for you if:

  • you have no physical symptoms
  • you have not come into contact with someone that has an STI
  • you have no big concerns and you just want to be sure

STI Assessment with Exam  -  This appointment needs to be done in person and is right for you if:

  • you have some physical symptoms
  • you know that you have come in contact with an STI

Birth Control  -  Most of the assessment and teaching for starting birth control is done over the phone, but we will need to see you for things like checking your blood pressure.

Reducing Spread of Covid-19

If you need to come to our Centre, we are asking everyone to

  • Answer Covid screening questions at the door
  • Sanitize their hands
  • Keep a 6 foot physical distance from others while in the waiting room
  • Wear a medical mask (one will be provided)

What to Expect at your Appointments

  • You will be placed in an exam room and a health care provider may talk to you by phone first
  • We will come in to the exam room after the phone call for anything that needs to be done in-person (exam, specimen collection, treatments)
  • If the care you need is beyond the scope of what we can provide, we will review what options you have for accessing a doctor or a nurse practitioner.

How to Get Your Results

  • We will call you about any result that is abnormal or requires follow-up
  • If you would like to speak with us about your results, please call and book a phone appointment for 2 weeks after the tests were done
