Taking Steps: Bereavement Support Group
The death of a loved one is often compared to a journey into the unknown. The Taking Steps Bereavement Support Group seeks to connect individuals who are on a journey of grief. In partnership with Hospice and Palliative Care Manitoba since 1996, the Taking Steps group has offered bereavement support to adults who have experienced a death of a loved one.
This 8 week group provides education around some of the more common themes of grief. Some examples of themes discussed over the eight weeks include:
The Pain of My Own Story,
We Don’t Talk Anymore,
Why do I Feel Worse Then Before?,
Will I Ever Heal, and
I Still Have Much To Do.
Certain myths about grief and bereavement are also explored. Individuals support each other through sharing their personal grief stories and experiences. Participants are encouraged to set their own pace in what they are ready and able to share.
